Zorins beta release is my core system on my Macbook and apart from the odd stumble it works great. Even in beta they pull updates from Ubuntu LTS sources and most of the beta updates are more about there own unique features such as desktop, Zorin connect and other Zorin in house softwares.

I would add though Zorin OS even in beta will allow you to upgrade straight to stable from beta through there usual updates. Again, rock solid (except where Gnome apps crash upon launching because Gnome is Gnome and can't help itself). I also have Pop!_OS, which I like as well. And despite all the warnings different people had about it, it has been nothing but rock solid and stable for me.

But by the time I learned that I was done with Mint and its shenanigans if I was going to fresh install a new OS, it wasn't gonna be another Mint but something completely different. I found out later that that's what I should have done, and it might have worked.

Problem is, I suppose, that I didn't do a fresh install of the full OS. I tried Linux Mint Mate, but it did the same thing. The only fix for this is a hard reboot, and no guaranteeing how long you can use the system before it freezes again and demand a hard reboot.
Every time I have installed it fresh, it will work fine for maybe a week, but then there is something in Cinnamon that will break and freeze the entire system.
